The year 2025 will remain a major milestone for Château Barbanau. Our 2022 Kalahari vintage, already recognized in specialist guides, has generated unprecedented enthusiasm in the press: a strong signal for our Cassis appellation and for our commitment to the Biodyvin label, which guides every action we take in our vineyards.

The guides and media that have recognized Kalahari

It all began with an impressive score of 92/100 in the 2026 Bettane + Desseauve Guide, praising Kalahari's precision and aromatic depth. A few weeks later, the Hachette Wine Guide 2026 confirmed this momentum with a noteworthy selection, highlighting the finesse of the ageing process on fine lees and the balance between saline tension and Provençal elegance.

The press is also taking an interest in this unique interpretation of our terroir, as evidenced by the recent article in Les Échos Week-End. The magazine highlights the rise in quality of Cassis wines and singles out Kalahari as one of the examples of this new dynamic, where maritime freshness meets the depth of Provençal limestone. The magazine Voyages & Hôtels de Rêve, in its summer 2025 edition, described the cuvée as "remarkable," a white wine with a strong character, ideal with fish and seafood. Two other publications have also featured our work: Le Figaro.fr Vins, which regularly highlights estates committed to biodynamics, and Cuisine A&D, which appreciates Kalahari's gastronomic expression and its potential for food and wine pairings.

Kalahari, the unique expression of the Cassis terroir

This recognition celebrates a patient and demanding choice: twelve months of aging on fine lees in Burgundy barrels, meticulous work on the soil, and the unique influence of our terroir. Kalahari tells the story of the encounter between sea, land, and light: a lively, vibrant balance, shaped by our hillsides and marine influences.

Biodynamics and Biodyvin certification: a commitment rewarded

For the estate, which has been committed to biodynamics for nearly twenty years and is Biodyvin certified, these distinctions are a source of immense pride. They reinforce our conviction that a great wine is born from attention to living things, humility towards the terroir, and a desire to share both a landscape and a taste.

If you would like to discover Kalahari's personality for yourself and understand what appeals so much to tasters, the cuvée is available in our online store. An invitation to explore a unique side of Cassis.
