Prologue
In the heart of Provence, our family cultivates 30 hectares
of vineyard classified on two controlled appellations: The 7,5 hectares
of CLOS VAL BRUYERE are classified in A.O.C. Cassis.
CHATEAU BARBANAU is a 23 hectares estate in A.O.C. Côtes de
Provence.
Our history:
Around 1900 our great Grand-father Emile Bodin decided to become a
wine cultivator in Cassis and created the Clos Val Bruyere vineyard.
Almost 100 years later our family decided to change our lives and
to reoccupy the vineyard and become wine producers ourselves.
In the same year we acquired the Chateau Barbanau vineyard, which
since 1960 sold the totality of its grape production to the local
wine cooperative and the winery was abandoned .
We rebuilt the winery and storage and in 1989 we produced our first
vintage.
Our family:
Lucien CERCIELLO
Montain guide and ski instructor, Lucien spent 40 years of his life
between Serre Chevalier and Chamonix in the Alps, finishing his career
as a manager in a National sporting institution. he retired in 1991
and decided to become with his wife and daughter a wine grower.
Claude CERCIELLO
Claude grew up in Cassis with her grand-father Emile Bodin, but with
her passion for the mountains she left the Provence to follow her
husband Lucien.
She began as a ski instructor, then took over the management of a
sport shop.
After inheritating from her grand-father sold the shop to return with
the family to the Provence to run the vineyards Clos val Bruyere and
Chateau Barbanau.
Sophie CERCIELLO-SIMONINI
After
a literary baccalaureat studied marketing and for a while ran a sport
shop. After the return to the vineyard she decided to return to an
agricultural school to study wine and viticulture. Since 1989 she
has been involved in running the vineyard and the elaboration of the
wine; she's assisted today by her husband Didier.
Didier SIMONINI

a scientific baccalaureat studied Natural Science and obtained his
oenologist diploma in Dijon having since being wine making in various
regions of France. He married Sophie in 1996 and has been working
next to her since 1998.
Our conception of the earth :
Our vineyard is cultivated respecting the environment, trying to keep
an harmonious relation with nature.
Thereby products used for the treatment of our vines are chosen in
function of their impact on the nature and each intervention is carefully
thought out.
Since 1995 not a single insecticide has been applied to our vines,
so today a natural equilibrium has been restored.
In 1999
we have adhered to a charter "Nutrition Mediterraneenne en Provence"
which brings together 3 elementary concepts -the Respect of the environment
-the Nutritional support and the Taste.
we thereby respect our specifications for the Culture, the Techniques
of vinification and the Quality of our wines.
